Oh my sweet, sweet girl.

you are blossoming so these days. you wave all of the time. you wave to the friendly stranger, to the grass, to guinness. you wave when we come to get you out of your crib. you give exuberant high fives, tens, and twenties. i love it. you cackle with delight and charm everyone you meet. you make the sweetest, tender sounds. you love bouncing and playing in your jungle gym. you are loved by so many.

Bento boxes are a huge trend in the baby/kid world. "Bento" is the japanese art form of creating unique packaged meals. Popular with adults also, good things do come in small packages! This saturday at The Seed Factory from 12-2, Pam from Cooking with Monkeys will be demonstrating how to construct your own bentos and will have some beautiful boxes for sale.

Netflix Recommendation: How I met your mother

Legend-waitforit-dary.

We love How I met Your Mother. A nice place to fill the Friends hole. How I met your mother is hilarious, honest, lovable, we look forward to our nightly fix.

Oh and the good news is there are several seasons to catch up on!

Cluster blogger

Kind of like "cluster feedings" only I'm feeding your blogrolls. It's a challenge to blog on a schedule, so I do it when the urge strikes and then I blog, blog, blog.

So, sunday Sam and I stuck to our plan of a weekly outdoor adventure.

We visited the beautiful Jones Bridge. I wanted a "scenic" hike and this one caught my eye because it follows the river almost the entire 5 MILES! What was I thinking? The journey started out a little rocky. For instance, I BIT it on the trail. That's right. A few steps in and BAM taking poor, sweet Guinness down with me. Not too much damage, just a little scrapage, a dirty knee, and a bruised ego. THEN, I had to pee so after realizing we had walked the wrong way, in to a dead end, we walked back to the restrooms, which let's just leave out the disgusting details and get to the point that there was no WATER or SOAP, so I was a bit cranky by this point. So, we walked out our frustrations, and walked, and walked. I didn't move after we got home. At all.

The beautiful, no longer working, bridge. There were people everywhere on this beautiful day. Playing on the rocks, fishing, kayaking. There were lots of spots to drop in. There was an area with stairs covered with screaming children (this area is avoidable). Make sure if you do this hike to go to the RIGHT to walk on the trail, the bridge and some serious mansions and then the river are to the left.

The trail was strenuous at times, but with lots of relatively flat areas, so it's great for a good, long hike. Emphasis on the long.

Keeping it real

Good morning! Here are Matilda and I in our early morning finest, she: looking sparkly and adorable, me: looking like I didn't get all of my eye makeup off and not quite enough sleep. I was lucky enough to have some fabulous conversations last night leaving me feeling quite happy.

As I write this my darling girl wails in her crib for no certain reason. Hmmmm.

I am so grateful to have the day with her today. Matilda is turning 10 months tomorrow. 10 MONTHS. I really cannot believe it. It seems like just yesterday we were pulling all nighters and Matilda's little head couldn't hold on its own. Now she is standing, hilarious, giving coy high fives and waves, making these precious gurgle and cackle noises. She's a little slice of heaven. Every day I find myself praying over her, while I hold her tiny hands. Praying for protection and joy and love and confidence. We're so thankful.

Must Have

There's a ton of junk out there in the baby world. Trust me. When I find something I think is seriously useful I love to share this wealth with others. I have the Baby Bjorn, it serves its purpose, I especially like it for the first few months, but I LOVE my SlingEZee Sling. When Til and I did the sling shoot for p&n I was able to try several, and this one is by far my favorite!

It is so comfortable. I really love it and Matilda loves it to. I get to snuggle up to her, but it still breathes and is so soft. I love the padded shoulder strap. Go out and get you one.

Ah, the great outdoors

Hello outdoors, haven't seen you in a while.

Sam and I are working on our fitness. A really important parenting goal of mine is to teach our children how to take care of themselves. What better way than to show them, right? So we are going to be trying new things every weekend. This weekend we went to Sope Creek. "Great secluded trail," sounded good to me!

We loaded up all of our gear and headed towards nature.

Doesn't Matilda look excited?!

How sweet. Just a mother/daughter out for a little stroll.

Duh.Duh.Duh. I'm thinking "This is ridiculous. Bumpbumpbump I'm already exhausted." A carried-over-the-creek stroller and a few more bumps in the road later and we decided we had made a huge error. Thus we turned around to head home, give Til her nap, and then try again. We would not be defeated.

Take two.

Bzzzzz. bzzzzz. "Geez don't these mountain bikers have any respect? They're going to run us over!" "What's that?" "Bike trail?" Yup that's right. We were on a mountain bike trail with a freaking stroller and then AGAIN with a back pack. Amateurs.

"Whoa, looks steep folks." We walked literally straight down. I wanted to see the water. Once we veered off the bike path there were tons of trails and maps (thank God), so we headed towards Sope Creek, terrified of the walk back UP.

It was beautiful. We didn't run in to anyone. So peaceful. We took the road less traveled back, which saved a ton of time. We were on a mission. La Parilla.

Live in the Atlanta area? Where should we go next?

Things I love riiiiiight now.

Pamela's baking mix. Recommended by a friend of a friend, this gluten-free wheat-free white flour-free (is your mouth watering yet?) is actually DELICIOUS!. We used it to make pancakes and Sam (aka mr picky pants) even said they were some of the best pancakes he'd ever eaten. So light and fluffy.

I have fallen back in love with my Chacos and their versatility after going on a fabulous hike with our entire crew to Sope Creek.

{chaco usa}

pictures and hilarious stories soon to follow...

Dark, dark chocolate...

Eucerin everyday lotion in SPF 15. It's really light and feels great on.

iplay swim diapers to cover one adorable tush. we went swimming for the first time and it was fabulous! they have the cutest ruffles on the butt.
