Guest Blogger: Christina from Down and Out Chic

My dearest friend Christina of the Down and Out Chic fame will be the first guest blogger to kick off a series of guests who will be covering everything from design to mothering, so without further adieu...

Wow, am I so excited to be guest posting on Homemade Grits. Lesley has been a complete inspiration to me when it comes to blogging (amongst other things) so this is quite a privelage. Anyway, I'm here today to talk about recycled wood. Not how to recycle wood, but how to use recycled wood, which can be just as difficult, really. If you're interested in purchasing recycled wood furniture, I suggest you read some tips here before you shop. I'm going to start by sharing some recycled furniture that I like and then we'll move on to general home decor.

Environment furniture is a great website that offers loads of inspiration on the best of recycled wood furniture. The shape of this bed is certainly modern, but the color of the wood adds warmth.

I'd love to own a long dining room table one day and on each side, I'd put benches like this.

How wild are these chairs? They're almost too pretty to sit on.

Viva Terra is a great resource for recycled wood tables. I really enjoy these nesting tables which are ideal for small spaces.

Apartment Therapy featured this dining set that, to me, screams rustic minimalism.

If you're not ready for a big piece commitment when it comes to reused wood, why not try something small (every little bit helps, right?)
These recycled frames from American Barn Company are totally affordable and would add some variety to a plain art wall.

If you search "recycled wood" on Etsy, I think you'd be surprised with all of the great options. These recycled wood clock is lightly adorned and so perfect for an office (and it's $45!).

This Barnwood Trinket Box would be perfect for Mother's Day (and at $24 you could even put a small treat inside!)

There are so many options when it comes to eco-friendly wood; I hope you'll consider it the next time you're in the market for a wood product. If you're interested in other ethically conscious, environmentally-friendly products, please visit my "Do More With Your Money Series."
Thank you Lesley for allowing me to be here!
~Christina

Thanks again Chris! Stay tuned...
