stay in savannah

maybe you've noticed its been a little quiet over here, or maybe not? sam and i have had the loveliest long weekend in savannah. we have been celebrating our five year anniversary. hard to believe! it feels like sam has always been a part of my life. i cannot imagine my life without him. it was so wonderful to have a concentrated time alone, although you know i was missing our bug.

this is the first installment of our city guide to savannah.

stay.

after seeing avia on travel and leisure, we decided to book our stay there and i'm so glad we did!

first impressions...indulgent customer service. they make every person feel important. the door is held from you every time you enter and every time you leave. i could get used to that (and i did!).

the lobby is so fantastic. gorgeous.

hello room. hello turn down service with dean and deluca chocolate on our pillows.

the view.

the pool and terrace is the perfect spot to have a glass of wine, or a cup of coffee in our case. brr. insider tip: have the hotel turn the bon fire on for you. so romantic and beautiful and a great conversation starter.

make sure you visit with becky williams, the concierge. she's hilarious, all-knowing, and will steer you in the right direction. we picked her brain for everything. you'll love her!

insider tip: check for specials. we were able to get 20% off the best rate and we were also able to upgrade to a suite for just $9 more a day by booking in advance!

stay tuned tomorrow for the second installment, shop. there may or may not be a give-away involved and it may or may not involve treasures from a store that rhymes with farc bacobs.

now i'm relaxing, mugging on my greatest treasures, and gearing up for the red carpet!

I read about Avia somewhere too and am very curious... The last few times I visited I stayed with friends, but maybe a hotel trip is in orde.

I can't say enough about the Avia. You guys captured it beautifully in the photos. I just stayed this past weekend there and am doing a couple feature articles on it. Wonderful stay, great breakfast!
