handmade charlotte for anthropologie

hi! this week has been kind of a downer. i'll be back to regular posting next week. just popping in to share these gorgeous beauties. my friend rachel who is a master curator and finds the most beautiful things and shares them on her blog handmade charlotte, has collaborated with anthropologie to create a mini-line of unreal girl's clothing. this little plume coat makes my head spin and all of these items were handmade on her farm.

her mother is a semi novice antique dealer who sets up at the local markets. she travels abroad a few times a year with her mom. she only carries buffalo nickels, wears indian head pieces and collects vintage buttons that her mother sews on her beret.

so proud of you rach!

welcome home charlotte

last week our dear friends and neighbors, christy and erik, had their sweet, tiny baby charlotte. isn't she perfection? jet black, curly hair and the daintiest little face. she already has her mom and dad wrapped around her finger. it is so cool to watch your good friends become parents. nothing like it really. they are so great with her and calm! christy who is incredibly together, was already walking around with her hair done no less at the hospital. she's a go getter, that one. i took these pictures of them just a few days after charlotte was born. i wanted you to see what a great job chris did on the nursery. this is just a peek, but i love the creative art collage and the menagerie of monsters. the colors are so fresh and calming and there are so many handmade touches. christy is one crafty lady. it is SO them and these photos make me really happy. congrats friends!

i got mail!

don't you LOVE love to get good mail? yesterday i hit the jackpot. doesn't it seem like that's how it always goes? all bills or all fun...
here's to fun mail!

1. i received a wedding invitation to my darling friend christy's wedding. i don't see christy nearly as much as i used to. we used to see each other all the time. it makes me sad that we don't anymore, but she's a friend i'll always hold dear and i'm looking very much forward to making a fool of myself on the dance floor at their wedding.

is this invitation unreal or what? christy is an incredible artist and hand drew/painted every piece of their invitation. that's right.

2. my country living. love.

and last, but certainly not least...

3. i won this book from caroline's adorable blog: coeur de la. aren't give-aways awesome? she also wrote me a very sweet note. thanks caroline!!

now to find time to read all of this goodness...

this past weekend

saturday was so beautiful. matilda and i started the day at my favorite nursery.

we went to get some plants to refresh the front porch. geraniums are such easy plants to grow and provide a perfect pop of color. these are "hot coral."

i am really getting in to the cast-iron plant. such an elegant plant. i may or may not be sore from working on these planters. i had to use my entire body weight to get the vines out of the planters. woof.

we spent the whole day outside, mingled with neighbors and had dinner at taqueria. we were missing sam who was in mississippi with my daddy working on his parents home. it's so hard. we miss them so, so much.

sunday was spent indoors. we are having some crazy weather. sunny and 70 on saturday, thunderstorms on sunday, and snow this morning. i also had the pleasure of attending a perfectly quaint housewarming party for my dear friend brittany and her sweet husband jay. it was such a blessing to see so many of my favorite faces. their house is quite possibly the cutest ever. so charming, cozy, and full of love. feast your eyes.

purple and yellow

it's amazing that all of our baby friends are turning the big o-n-e. it seems like just yesterday they were all tiny and swaddled. our darling friend lindsey threw the most elaborate and adorable party for her daughter parker. the attention to detail is amazing.

beautiful little p with her purple tutu.

beautiful tiers of wheatgrass, housed gerber daisies and homemade pinwheels. i am in a sugar coma from all of the amazing sweets. cake pops, petit fours, cupcakes, and champagne all made their way to my mouth. yum.

a photobooth set up with mustaches, lips, and more!

me and my dear friend brit and til.

matilda and parker finally met!! i love this picture so much.

such a fun weekend getting ready for the party and having some late night crafting fun at this adorable house.

octoberrrr

well, it was pretty chilly, but it's warm again. typical georgia weather. we've been particularly busy these days, hardly a moment to sit still. matilda has been getting more teeth and drooling like a mad-baby. she also learned how to stand up in her crib, but can't get back down. it makes me realize how dependent we are on our parents. i still am. i don't know what sam and i would do without my parents.

the inspiration for my garden...always. i love this little community near our neighborhood. it is so beautiful. reminds me of europe. i need to travel. neeeed it.

i took matilda to the park for the second time. she loved the swing! she laughed every time i pushed her. i love this little girl.

a tiny hat for a little friend. birthdays all around!

they did it!

what an amazing wedding. it was such a huge honor to be a part of kate and andy's wedding day. i could go on and on about how beautiful, sweet, fun, and wonderful the entire weekend was. everything from the big white balloons to the delicious food, to the amazing dancing. it was an absolute blast!

i can't wait to see the pictures...seriously. scott, adam, and cristen were just the nicest, calmest, people to work with.

see sam's pictures here.

the rehearsal and dinner were equally lovely. we had the yummiest dinner at mary mac's tea house on ponce. i always thought it was this teeny tiny place and it was huge. the food was to die for. i always love experiencing people's first bites of fried green tomatoes. i couldn't live anywhere else.

see the rest here

there's nothing as special as a wedding. a room full of people who share the same love and commitment for the bride and groom. it's palpable.

congrats again kate and andy!

super

this morning i had one of those harried mom mornings. you know, the ones where you are doing a million things at once and everything and everyone comes first and it's five til the time you're supposed to leave and you're still in your bath robe. yea, one of those. but, feeling very proud of myself, i managed to get me and matilda bathed, two batches of muffins baked, both of us dressed and fed, and we were out the door (albeit 15 minutes late) with coffee in tow thanks to sam.

where were we heading?

to celebrate logan "officially" becoming a xayaseng, although he's felt very official since he was brought in to all of our lives in december. unfortunately a lot of red tape, paperwork, and fees have to be tied up. done and done. i'm so proud of them.

beth threw the sweetest fete in logan's honor. very emotional and beautiful brunch.

for jodi

my dear, dear friend jodi is moving. away. far away. although i hate that we won't see each other as often i know that we have a lot to look forward to. jodi is just the kind of friend we all want and i treasure her.

then:

and now:

in honor of jodi's move i made a little georgia loves jodi scrapbook.

1. take 2 pieces of cardboard. i wanted mine long and narrow to leave room for writing little notes. mine is 10x5

hi toes.

2.cut fabric slightly larger and wrap around cardboard like you would a present. i used good ole mod podge to secure.

3. use heavy paper (like scrapbooking paper) and cut a 9x4 piece to cover the cardboard on both sides.

4. cut out same size as cardboard to make the pages.

5. punch holes in each and secure with ribbon. viola!

i added a little envelope to hold a cd for her travels.

au revoir sweet friend!
