happy 2010

we spent the last hours of 2009 having lunch here.

matilda was so excited.

then we went here for the first time. ugh, why have i been missing out? loved every inch of the place.

then i started making this carrot ginger soup, and my throat started to hurt. vitamins were taken, nasty zicam was taken.

it was the best soup i've ever made. i added a few new ingredients and changed the recipe just a little because i was out of a few things and deeeerrrrrn. we made it again today.

i rang in the new years with my beloved neighbors. sam was playing a show, which he does every year. this year i felt really sad about that.

that night sam and i both started feeling sick. sick. sick.

we tried to trick ourselves and we went to my mama's delicious new years dinner and loved seeing our family and then i crashed. hard. woke up feeling like my head would explode, but internet whining is so 2009. i tried one of these for the first time. whoa. sam was so freaked out. haha. we've been out of commission all day watching this and sleeping, while my amazing parents kept matilda. i miss her so much. we had such big plans for this weekend. poop.

sam is trying to cheer us up by making these, and then come monday we'll be havin none of that. goodnight.

Hope

Matilda and I are keeping tabs on the Washington happenings today. I'm looking forward to the Inauguration and hearing Obama's speech. I just can't stop crying. I'm a jumble of emotions: hope, joy, fear, wonder, and worry. Of course as a mother I can't help but think of Matilda: her safety, her future, but I am looking forward to the future and the hope that comes with change. I hope you all have time today to reflect on what you can do to bring joy to this country and that you would all pray for our new President.

-A perfect family dinner. I was the only one feeling light and fancy free.
-A shower to look forward to.
-Sam's leatherworking expanding all the time.
-New music opportunities.
-Writing endeavors.
-New businesses.
-New friends.
