happy birthday my girl

this week has left me surprisingly weepy. instead of obsessing over party details and having fun, i've been tearing up at the drop of the hat, thinking about all this year held. the wonderful, the good, the everyday, and the ugly that we all deal with. i'm left holding this long-limbed, cackling, snuggling, loves of my life. matilda has far exceeded how wonderful i thought having a child would be. she is lovely in every way. i'm so lucky to be her mama.

a year ago at 9:27 pm, you and your perfectly round head (everyone said so) made their entrance. you brought your daddy and me to tears. we were so in awe of you. giving birth was hands down my most proud moment. proud of all of us. daddy was such a huge help and you were finally ready to meet us. i was amazed at my body and yours for just finding your way out. you were ready to eat right away and i was mystified by how sweet nursing could be. what a joy.

the nurses held everyone back so that we could enjoy you. they cleaned you up and put a little hat on you with a little pink ribbon. it's in your baby book.

look at how excited everyone was to meet you!

you wore the same outfit i wore home from the hospital, well minus the jazzy socks.

i just can't believe everything that has happened this year and that we did it! what a milestone. here's to 100 more. i love you with all my heart sweet baby girl. happy first birthday!
