rebuilding your temple: week one

{1./2.}

i like to keep my blog as a mix of different areas of my life as to not bore anyone BUT i just can't help but share my "rebuilding your temple" experience. i thought i would share with those of you that don't have access to a program like this what we are learning each week. so, every tuesday you'll get a recap from me as well as some homework via paul.

this week: water

rid your body of toxins by flushing them out with good, clean water (not tap). the goal is to drink 1/2 an oz per pound of body weight. this is something i definitely need to work on, so i'm right there with you.

paul suggests "waking up with water." this means drinking a liter of water right when you wake up. this energizes the body. he recommends drinking purified water at room temperature so that your body doesn't have to work too hard to maintain homeostasis.

notes of interest:
  • water plays a role in every body function
  • your body requires a constant daily supply in order to get rid of waste, otherwise all of the toxins just sit in your body
  • have clear urine (body functions will be a part of these posts)
  • try to avoid drinking water 30 min before meals, as well as during. this allows the enzymes in your body to properly break down the food. don't panic if you need a sip of water, just try and live by this nugget
homework:
  • drink more water!
  • make sure you're drinking filtered water
  • use a bpa free bottle or stainless steel
*thirsty yet?

ps i was super excited to have some friends come out last night. makes me so happy to see people i love taking charge of their health!

I completely agree with the water thing. I've gotten to where I only drink water & coffee on a normal day. Also, I drink about a full nalgene bottle in the morning before my coffee, and I feel so much better! No early morning headaches or dehydration after I finish my coffee.

When I started only drinking water, I found it helped sometimes to put a squeeze of lemon or orange in there. Best of luck!

What a great post and reminder! Since detox I have been drinking lots of water. Girl, your comment on my blog made me smile. It was a great hotel. A friend of mine where I teach, her husband is affiliated with the hotel too, small world. His name is David Nour. I didn't post this on the blog, but one of my favorite things about the hotel was in the fitness center they had a water dispenser filled with lemons, limes, and oranges. It was delicious! I've been trying that at home. So. . .do you think you can do a post for sweets? No pressure! I just have a huge sweet tooth, sad I know! Hope you are having a great week. Thanks for continuing to be such a wealth of information and an amazing encouragement!

I look forward to the recaps and thank you for the inspiration! I wish my schedule allowed me to go to his class.

One thing I realized after two miscarriages was that what we choose to eat and drink is one of the few things we actually have control over in our lives.

Thanks for being such a motivator to us all.

i have a tough time with water- or any liquid for that matter. i'm not a big drinker- period. i could honestly go an entire day without having a drink of anything- and not know the difference. i'm lucky most meals if i take more than 5 sips of my drink. it makes it really hard when it's just something i'm not interested in. but i'm trying to drink more water. ugh

re: mcmel
like nike says: just do it! :) every thing you do becomes a habit after 21 days, so just try and stick with it. you'll be surprised at how good drinking lots of water will make you feel.

I was just wondering of your nutritionist has said anything about organic Agave as an alternative to sugar. I am reading all sorts of opinions about it.
Thanks!

I completely agree with this. I drink water every single morning. I think it's much better to start off with hydrating and nurturing your body instead of dehydrating it with coffee. Thank you for sharing. -Lola http://www.happinessinspiration.blogspot.com
