big bow girl

i am LOVING all of the big bows that i've been seeing lately. i must tell you however that i was totally ahead of the curve on this one. i have a big gold bow belt from one of my bffs and i put it in my hair to wear to a christmas party the year before last and sam laughed me out of the room. then they were on the marc jacobs runway. just sayin'.

recovery

just be glad you don't live with us right now. if you did you would be surviving the graham plague 2010. it all began sunday 3 a.m.ish with me holing up in the ole bathroom with the worst stomach virus i can remember EVER having. we farmed matilda out to my parents, to which my dad said, "did you just send us a virus in a really cute pink package?" at this point i was praying that it was food poisoning so that no one else would get it, but sure enough later that afternoon we got the dreaded phone call that matilda was throwing up. yup. first time in almost 17 months that matilda has ever been sick:(. sam was the best caretaker. as i shivered and sweated and well, i'll spare you, he was right there. two days later and 3 a.m.ish, sam's praying to the porcelain gods. meanwhile, we missed jake's going away party, but luckily (fingers crossed) still got to hug his neck last night because his flight got delayed due to weather. sam had a crazy busy work week and i feel horrible that he is now zombielike on our cootie bed.

on a much lighter note we booked our hotel and i could not be more excited! now all i want to do is buy really pretty things to wear on our lovey dovey trip...

Impossibly Hip

I first took notice of Sid Mashburn's self titled men's store after noticing the impeccably dressed men that work there. They are always dressed to the nines. Every time I see them I think...one of each please (not the boys, the clothes). I wish I could afford to buy all Sam's clothing there. Yum. He did get an undershirt and adorable green striped boxers for Father's day, along with an amazing vest. ifidosaysomyself.

Sid himself rang me up. The store is a mix of old and new. Vinyl on the speakers, Ray Bans, Preppy meets hipster. Tailor made clothing amidst deer heads and the clientele was a mix of good ole boys, hoity toities, and young trendy types. Quite a show.

Shopping: American Apparel Baby

So, I will be posting on my adorable green-themed shower tomorrow, but I wanted to take a second to talk about American Apparel's baby line. Skye got me one of the cutest onesies you can imagine and it was a screen print on an American Apparel onesie...I had not idea they had a baby line.

Not being a big fan of American Apparel, I can still appreciate the simpleness of the line. I just find some of the ads to be excessive and I really don't care for the founder. Bleckkk. I also think that only really skinny people can get away with the skin tight t-shirts and leggings, but I digress...babies:

Boots at Target

With the recommendation from my beauty expert co-worker Megan, my Mom and I stocked up on Boots products while on our shopping date yesterday. We had such a wonderful evening. We ate at Ted's, went shopping, and just spent time together. I am very lucky to have such a wonderful, sweet, and fun Mama.

But, back to Boots...Boots is "Britain's health and beauty expert" now available in the US at Target and CVS.



Boots originates from England where we are the leading health and beauty retailer. We were established in 1849 so have over 150 years experience in developing fabulous brands designed to help our customers look and feel great. The company was established by John Boot who opened his first pharmacy store in Nottingham, England – it was his effective remedies, delightful brands and excellent service that led to much success for him and then for his son Jesse when he took over the business in 1877.

Being somewhat of an anglomaniac, I was very excited to hear about their products. I bought these things to try:



Boots Botanics Volumizing Mascara in Brown/Black

No flaking, strong color, goes on very smooth



Boots Mediterranean Bath Cream Thyme Milk Lemon Verbena

Smells like heaven...I will be soaking my tired self in the deliciousness tonight



Botanics eye definer in Licorice

Rich and creamy with a nice, strong pigment



Wonderbalm which I actually got in Grape but didn't see online

Can be used on lips, cuticles, dry spots. Smells yummmmmy

Spotlight: Salt Water Sandals

I can't remember where I first saw these sandals, but I will definitely be purchasing some for my wee one. Salt-water sandals are not only adorable and a celebrity favorite but they are very tough and comfortable! Made of the finest leather, I love the classic styling of all of their shoes.

My favorite is the original, which now comes in bright orange:

Brocade Home

One of my favorite websites/stores to get lost in is Brocade Home. My dear friend Karina turned me on to the site a few years ago when I was on a hunt for original iron outdoor furniture. Can't say it was in my budget, but it is so much fun to dream. It doesn't look like they carry the outdoor line anymore, but look at these gems...

Madewell

Madewell 1937 is the new concept from JCrew. There's more of an emphasis on basics (JCrew seems to be getting dressier by the day) and they seem to be targeting the younger set. There is a store coming soon to Lenox Mall. We'll see how they do. A lot of the concept stores have not fared very well. Remember Forth and Towne?

The prices are very average for higher end retail stores (think Banana Republic or Abercrombie and Fitch).
