Just as soon as you think you got it down

So, the rice cereal was working like a charm. Then just as my Mom predicted...Matilda has begun the dreaded teething phase. Sweet angel has been moaning and sucking on anything in sight, particularly her hand. I feel so bad for her! I apparently also began teething around 4 months. I'm trying to avoid giving tylenol as much as possible. I found these natural suggestions on Hippie Dippie Bebe's website:

Hello Brown Rice Cereal

My ever "saves the day" Mama dropped off some organic brown rice cereal for Matilda's nighttime bottle. All of my friends had sung their praises of cereal at night for longer sleepy goodess. So, I thought "Oh heck yeah I'll try it" and so I did...

Matilda slept for NINE hours!!! NINE! Sweet dreams.

happy baby food

disclaimer: add an insert for the nightime cloth diaper. the cereal packs a whallop!

ps No one warned me about the four month wakeful period. Some kind of friends you are;)

Long Lost Sleep

Hello sleep. It's been a long time.

Yesterday at work I started hallucinating when I was staring at the bed we have so beautifully decorated and I realized there was a major problem. Sam picked me up from work and after telling him I was going insane and that he didn't want me to be insane because that wouldn't be any fun, he offered like a true gentleman to "take one for the team." After celebrating some good news my family at our favorite haunt, I came home, turned off the monitor, and said goodnight. From 8:30 pm until 4 am I slept like a tiny baby should until a harried Sam stormed the room with a crying, hungry Matilda and a confused Guinness. He was exhausted, I was already feeling better (even though I would have loved a few more hours of delicious, uninterrupted sleep) so I took that little monkey and fed her and within minutes ALL three of them were snoring and I couldn't go back to sleep for the life of me. I toted that little angel to her crib and within minutes she was cawwing and clucking and cooing and squealing and then screaming. She was like that until 6! HELP!!!!!
Then I fed her and curled her up next to me and she's still asleep...it's after 9am.

Wasamatter?

Today my darling daughter will not sleep. I don't know why. All of my hopes of cleaning up have been squashed. I'll get her to sleep and then as soon as she realizes I'm not holding her she's a squalling mess. Right now she is sound asleep for the first time for longer than 2 minutes and it's because she nestled soundly in my neck. Keep in mind it's 3:00pm! I'm whooped!

Here is a two minute snooze thanks to her chickie towel:

I'm just so happy right now because she's happy and asleep:)

Meanwhile in my search for great recipes I came across the best blog! I love it and it has so many pictures! Introducing...The Pioneer Woman. I'm addicted and everything looks absolutely amazing. For instance:

Decadent chocolate milk

ps in other Matilda news, I got my first real smile yesterday. It was amazing, but none since:( Also, she is noticing more and more around her. Here she is looking at her birdie and heart:
