weekend reading and a few to-dos...

{left to right, top to bottom: 1./ 2./ 3./ 4./ 5./ 6.}

i'm hoping to steal a few minutes away this weekend to catch up on some reading. i've decided that i must add "learning to can" to this list . such a lovely art and homemade canned goods make the best gifts.

i just ordered in defense of food and can't wait to read it. anthony bourdain made a reference to the author on twitter yesterday, saying "Love beef. Even feedlot beef--unlike most Pollan-esque advocates. Beef treated with ammonia? Not so much." don't you love him?

i have the biggest crush on alice waters and love what she's done for food. this book was recommended to me by this lovely lady and i gifted it to my mom for christmas. now i'm borrowing it. need to buy it, so much great information.

sunset and whole living are my favorite subscriptions. so much inspiration! i swear i'm in my twenties. i still get glamour left over from my domino subscription (r.i.p.) and i just toss it in the recycling bin.

lastly, did you know todd selby's photographs from the selby will be on display at jackson fine art starting tonight? hipsters will be out in full force!

what are you reading?

now taking submissions here for healthy recipes...

I'm currently reading "Creative Inc" by Meg Mateo/Joy Cho and "The Sweet Life in Paris" by David Lebovitz. Both inspiring in their own unique way. I love "In the Defense of Food" so eye opening!

Heehee to hipsters. Man. I got that book for Andy for Christmas although I have no idea who he is. As for Alice Waters, I had my first Chez Panisse experience a few months ago, and it was SO F'ING GOOD! It's only a couple miles from my house--enough motivation for you to come visit me???

My reading list looks very different than yours. It includes the True Blood books and Snooki's new book. What can I say--it's mid-school year.

You ARE in your twenties!! For exactly one more month and one day. :)

Did you go to The Selby exhibit? A friend of mine and I were there last night! It was wonderful - bought the book and meet the amazing photographer! Have a wonderful weekend!

I have been eyeing that canning book too. Last summer I taught myself to can - smoky plum butter, peach butter, and pickled okra. It was all really easy and delicious!

Yay! Thank you so much for the shout out.
Your reading is going to make you more inspired than you already are. Can't wait to hear what you think of Pollan's book, and what Waters recipes get you goin'. Both books have definitely motivated my eating at times when I need a little push.
Look for a healthy recipe or two in your inbox soon!

I love the Alice Waters. I got it for Christmas last year and it was such a resource during the summer.

The canning book you have has been on my wishlist for a while so I will be interested to see if you like it.

I checked out Simply Organic by Jesse Ziff Cool from my library last year and I have been wanting to add it to my personal collection. I think you would like it too!
