rachel's birthday fiesta!

matt threw the most insanely perfect fiesta for rachel on friday night. the food was outofcontrol: stuffed peppers, grilled marinated pork, grilled cream of corn (cream of grilled corn?), spicy beans, etc. my mom made the best chocolate cake you've ever tasted PLUS matt got sublime to make rachel birthday donuts. my super crafty sister made the incredible fringe banners and lantern out of tissue paper. it was so pretty!

cuban records were spinning, the pinata was busted, and margaritas were surely consumed. i loved seeing rachel so happy and surrounded by so many people that love her. it was a fantastic party!

stay tuned tomorrow for how i plan on to get back on track to eating healthy. the birthday month has made me wild.

purple and yellow

it's amazing that all of our baby friends are turning the big o-n-e. it seems like just yesterday they were all tiny and swaddled. our darling friend lindsey threw the most elaborate and adorable party for her daughter parker. the attention to detail is amazing.

beautiful little p with her purple tutu.

beautiful tiers of wheatgrass, housed gerber daisies and homemade pinwheels. i am in a sugar coma from all of the amazing sweets. cake pops, petit fours, cupcakes, and champagne all made their way to my mouth. yum.

a photobooth set up with mustaches, lips, and more!

me and my dear friend brit and til.

matilda and parker finally met!! i love this picture so much.

Another year older

my sweet, creative, lovable baby brother Jake turned a year older this sunday. we actually had not one, but three celebrations to commemorate the event. One of these celebrations took place at award winning Daddy D'z on memorial drive. excellent pork bbq (worth the cheat), the moistest corn bread i've ever eaten, and fabulous fried green tomatoes. we celebrated with Grammy and Lynndaddy. poor aunt rachie's couch got quite a soaking, but it was all worth it.

This delicious chunk of man is having a birthday today. He wished for sleeping in and I am happy to report that he is sleeping like a baby and speaking of babies...my little one is talking up a storm!

Sam, my biggest hope for you is that you can stand your birthday without your new gun and that I can make you feel as special as you make me feel. I love you so much!

Handmade Birthday

Yesterday was my Daddy's birthday and we went and celebrated at our favorite Mexican restaurant. My Dad is simply amazing. He shot his birthday tequila like a champ and we had an amazing time.

Here is Matilda out cold in her Babbacover, my new favorite gizmo. Everyone kept trying to get us to take her out, but I'm getting wise to this ploy. It's all fun and games until we get home and our baby Tilda is an overtired mess. Sam and I stood our ground!

For Daddy's birthday Sam made an amazing belt for him. It is so beautiful and Dad loved it. Sam also loved it, so much that he made himself one. Dad's is on the right, Sam's on the left. Look for them soon in the Etsy shop.

Happy Birthday Dad!!!

Update: how many times can I use the word amazing in a post???

Happy Birthday Rachel

It is my dear sister's birthday. She is stuck at work, so I wanted to send some cheer her way on this rainy day!

I feel incredibly blessed to have the siblings that I do. Rachel is such a wonderful sister and friend. I am so happy that I get to see her all the time now. It completes me having her near. She is beautiful, smart, creative, kind, and always up for anything which I admire so much about her. Most of all she is wonderful to her friends and family and we all love her so much. So, cheers to you Rachie on your birthday. Hope you do lots of fun things after work...I love you!

Restaurant Review: Sun in my Belly

This past sunday was my Mama's birthday and we did something different this year. Rachel had a great idea to go to this cute restaurant in Decatur called Sun in my Belly, the name taken from a Picasso quote:

it has been said that when Picasso was asked what it was that compelled him to create, his response was the “Sun in my Belly”.

One sunday a month they have jazz brunch and this month it fell on Mama's birthday. We brought our own champagne and celebrated Mama's special day.

last two pictures taken from Rachel's flickr

If you look closely you can see the beautiful Cosafina earrings Daddy gave Mama for her birthday!

Back to the food...we all had breakfast and it was phenomonal. Some of the best scrambled eggs I've ever had and the buttermilk biscuit was incredible! The presentations were simple, but creative like the restaurant itself. The restaurant had high ceilings with white chinese lanterns, vintage lockers, minimal decoration, and beautiful floral arrangements. The staff was extremely warm and helpful. We had the loveliest time. I can't wait to go back!
