these are just a few of my favorite photos that one of my best friends, jessica mahady, shot of our family over the summer. she took them of us in sam's dad's old red truck. she's amazing. you should hire her.
yesterday we packed up the car for lunch at the xayasengs with jessica and the haistens. it was so great to see jessica after so many months! jessica has been extremely busy promoting and putting on veggie conquest, a vegan iron chef of sorts. if you're in the nyc area you should definitely check it out.
jessica as you now is an incredible family photographer. the best gift you could ever get someone is the gift of pictures. jessica has super affordable packages and she is so wonderful to work with. these speak for themselves:
My lovely stylist friend Annette, asked me if Matilda and I wanted to participate in a photo shoot for an International Tea Cookbook written by Lisa Boalt Richardson. I hesitantly agreed because these sorts of things tend to make me a wee bit nervous. Once I arrived at the beautiful house where the shoot was taking place I was even more intimidated, but as soon as I walked through the door I was greeted by the nicest group of creative people who instantly put me at ease! I actually had so much fun. Thanks again Annette, Natalie, Lisa, Lauren, and Jay!
Jessica was on hand to take the behind-the-scenes shots. It was so great having her there and she actually knew Jay, Lauren's assistant. Small world folks. I'll let you know when I get some more info on the book, but look for Tea With a Twist this June.
Jessica and I have been friends since the 8th grade. I'm happy to say we've come a long way, from baby doll dresses to our "punk" stage, long flowing dresses at Phish shows, college, boyfriends. I could not ask for a better friend. She was in my wedding, on the phone when I was giving birth. I'm so thankful for you. Jessica is an amazing photographer, cook, crafter. Have a wonderful birthday, and may you feel as loved as you are!
My lovely (and persistent;)) friend Christina (aka Anonymously Chic) tagged me to find a picture that sums up my own personal style. Icheywawa, this is a hard one. I don't usually participate in these sorts of challenges, but for Chris I'll make an exception.
This isn't exactly what I was looking for, but it's pretty close. You only get so many "sleeping baby minutes." I am bohemian modern to my very core. I love saturated colors of all kinds, lots of house plants, vintage touches, lots of pillows, bright graphic prints, and cozy everything. I like things to look orderly, but not perfect, and never matchy-matchy. I like quirky accents and lots of photographs.
Thank you so much to the artistical genius that is Sam Graham and the talented Jessica Mahady for left image and the wonderful Andrew Lee for the image on the right!
Now to show off some of my Ikeawares. Although they are not very exciting, I am so happy to have functional pieces in my home.
I am extremely blessed to know incredible photographers, one being a best friend, Jessica Mahady who took these beautiful pictures of Matilda. I wanted to display them for all to see and truth be told the bathroom is a great place for this! Thank you Jessica for the beautiful shots. We treasure them.
Speaking of incredible photographers...we spent the day with one yesterday. Mr Andy Lee took pictures of our family and sent me this little teaser. I can't wait to see the rest...
and then it's everywhere and that's all you hear about? There must be a word for this phenomenon. Well, earlier this week my friend Jessica posted about Spoonflower, this amazing new company that will print anything on fabric. If you can't find what you're looking for, you can create it. What a brillz idea! If that wasn't awesome enough, it's only $18 per yard and there is no minimum order. So, go ahead all you budding textile designers, and knock yourself out.
So, back to that phenomenon. After I read about Spoonflower on Jessica's blog, Kate sent me an email telling me I should feature it and then I read about it again on Design Mom. Whoa. Word gets around. So if you haven't heard about Spoonflower by now, now you know!
My friend Jessica is a photographer based out of Brooklyn who is an amazing family photographer. She was in town this weekend and shot Matilda as well as two other children. The pictures turned out beautifully. If you are interested in hiring her, her contact information in available on her website. She is also available to shoot in Atlanta by appointment when she is in town.
Jessica is just exposing me to all sorts of amazing things these days. Check out your new obsession...Poladriod:
Almost as fun as the real thing, this little application allows you to drag and drop your favorite pictures and turn them in to polaroids. It even makes the noise and allows you to "shake it" as the picture develops. Happy time wasting!
Our Halloween was busy, busy! We started the day at Sam's work for a little trick or treating. I've never seen anything like it. All of the cubes were decorated to the max. There were haunted houses and goblins and ghouls. My favorite was Bon Qui Qui, she was spot on!
Sam in front of his cube aka shrine to Matilda, who was a ballerina!
Then we had a visit from Jane followed by a journey to Jessie's Aunt Barb's house for Halloween fun:
Jessica and Matilda finally met and here is Jessie the bee! I also got to meet Jessica's beau Dave who I loved!
I loved getting to see all of Jessie's family and friends. They are so fun and so festive. Barb gives Martha a run for her money.
Today I got a gifty in the mail from one of my best friends, Jessica. When I fussed at her for buying it for me she said my sanity was important to her. Only your truest friends care about your sanity. I love you Jess and I can't wait for you to come home!
The gift was a new book:
I had actually been making some progress getting Matilda on a schedule and all that flew out the window last night when she woke up in a panic and couldn't get easy. Side note...I have to change the sheets for the THIRD time this week, because her diapers aren't holdin' it all in!
I also had a special visit from my cousin Leah today. I haven't been documenting all of our visits like I should, but we had a lovely time eating leftover crisp and strolling with Tilda and Guinness.
Don't forget that tonight at 9, Privileged will be on!!
