simply because i am willing it to be so.
i am so thankful for God's grace.

for jessie.
jessie was in a terrible accident this weekend. it scared the youknowwhat out of me. she managed to jump out of the car with some bruises and a cracked sternum. she is resting, while heavily sedated (can't wait to hear what comes out of her mouth), at her parent's home.
the few moments that i did not know if she was ok or not were the scariest moments of my life. i can't imagine not having jessie here with us. the end.
today is a good day because we will have breakfast with her.
i will work on some of these for a new baby girl.
i will get to have my back patted by the sweetest creature in my life. she will say mama! when i bring her her milk this morning. she will toddle around and point to anything gross (like sam's shoes haha) and say "eeeeeewwwwwww." this will all make me feel like everything is right in the world.

What better a challenge for a first morning out with a newborn than Ikea? Hey, if you can make it through that crash course it's easy sailing from there! Well, that's exactly what Jessie and I did with little Matilda and Logan in tow.
Picture this:
-Two strollers
-Two hungry babies
-Feeding them in the couch section
-A blowout
-Changing them on a bench because the family restrooms get more action than a subway turnstile
-Trying to get 2 bottled waters with all those lanes and 2 strollers
-Jessie lifting a chair off a high shelf
-Pushing a stroller and pulling the cart behind us...one cart turned in to 2
-Me pushing the strollers back and forth to keep the babies happy when Jess forgot something and had to run and get it
-Self checkout...need I say more
It was an absolute crack up. Then (Jessie doesn't know this yet) I'm convinced I parked on a different level than she did. I go to the other parking deck and it's a crime scene waiting to happen. No one is around, it's dark, and the freaking elevator won't come back down to get me and my worried child.
I don't think I've ever been so exhausted from a shopping trip! We did however get some great buys, which I will post about later. Until then, sit back, relax, and be thankful you're not at Ikea.

Last saturday my oldest and best friends threw me a tea party shower! It was such a fun theme and everyone wore their fanciest hats, which admittedly I was a bit nervous about because I didn't think I would find the perfect hat, but I did!
Mom and I found the most fabulous vintage hats at one of my favorite places, Fleu De Coup, and check out Grammy's hat! She put Matilda's gift outfit on her hat!! I loved it.
Here are pictures of the tea bar. They had all different flavors of loose tea, a variety of creams and sweeteners, and the favors were the tea cups + tea ball + a bag of your favorite tea. It was beautiful!
Here are pictures of the amazing food! Grammy said it was the most beautiful food she'd ever seen and I agree. I think catering could be a fall back plan!Everything about the shower was incredibly special. I had spent the evening with the hostesses (Jessie, Jessica, and Keely) the night before and could not believe all of the work they had done! Everything from the food to the party favors was spectacular! I have very talented friends.

They also sat up a "onesie stations" where the guests all decorated one for Matilda. They are such treasures!
It was a shower full of favorite people. I received the dearest gifts and got to spend time with old friends, especially Becky who I haven't seen in years! It was perfect. Thank you to everyone who came and for all my sweet hostesses did! I love you!

Good morning everyone! I had another Dr.'s appt this morning. Oh the joys of stepping on the scale, drinking 10 oz of fruit punch syrup, and getting my blood taken. However my lovely doctor has returned from her maternity leave and I was overjoyed to see her. Also, Matilda's little heart is pumping away and I'm measuring right on track. Hooray! I cannot wait to meet her, I think about her all the time. Sometimes I feel like I am dreaming and I will wake up and this large bump will be gone.
I had a lot of questions for my doctor and she had a lot of great answers...
I expressed to her my concern over the rising c-section rates and she said that she understood my concerns but that the fatality rates in mothers and infants was on the decline as a result. Good answer.
She also said that the c-section was a last result in their practice. They follow something called a Friedman's curve which is based on a study done with a thousand pregnant woman so if you fall outside of that norm then they will use medical intervention, but the goal is always a vaginal birth.
I also expressed my concerns about the Pitocin and Epidural usage. She said that if I asked them not to offer me the drugs that they would not. She said that neither of the drugs would affect the baby and that there has never been a case of anyone getting paralyzed by and epidural.
About the Bradley Method, she said it was important to take a class so that you would know the relaxation techniques. She also started cracking up because of the patients she has in the past that had taken the classes. She had one patient that said baby, baby, baby, baby with each contraction. She also said if Sam was naked that she wasn't coming in the room ( the pictures in the book show naked couples, hilarious) and that she had 2 different husbands that were pinching and licking their partners nipples when she walked in the room. I started dying laughing, but she said that it was a natural way to release pitocin, she just didn't want to see it.
She also said I would be hooked up to a monitor, but that it was portable so I could still move around, get in the bath, whatever. I thought that was a real comfort.
So, there you have a few more answers. I have been ordered by Sam to relax. I have been going non stop and my feet are constantly swollen and I have been stressed out about cleaning, planning the perfect yard sale, and my glucose screening. I really need to get myself some pool time in so that I can actually exercise!
So, I shall spend the day with Jessie getting our nails done and eating lunch together. I think we are going to Gabriels so you will have a restaurant review here shortly....
